A LETTER FOR PARENTS

Hancock Youth for Positive Efforts (HYPE) is an adult-guided, youth-led initiative that empowers middle and high school students to lead engaged, healthy, and positive lifestyles. HYPE is a Drug-Free Communities Program originally funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, now overseen by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), operating in partnership with the Hancock Resource Center and the Hancock Community Coalition.

This program works with youth grades six through twelve to prevent substance abuse among their friends and peers. HYPE enlists the help of students from all four local high schools (Bay High School, Hancock High School, Our Lady Academy, and St. Stanislaus College) to develop strategies that bring about positive change in the Hancock County community.

HYPE serves as a resource and platform for students and community members dedicated to promoting safe and healthy environments for our youth. If you would like more information about HYPE or how to assist in prevention efforts, please email Summer Jackson at sjackson@hancockhrc.org!
